CLIENTS

In rural areas, company's clients have been rural information centers, rural telecenters and community e-centers. The strategic partners are micro-finance banks, micro-finance institutes (MFIs), Small Farmers Cooperatives (SFCs) and women development cooperatives. BCI strategies and capacity building training are coupled during e-Services integration in these clients and strategic partners to diffuse ICT in rural areas sustainably.

Specialized consultancy clients are Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, United Nations Economic Cooperation for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the World Health Organization (WHO), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Ministry of Information and Communications, Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA), Winrock International Nepal, Practical Action Nepal and International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and Nepal Institute for . Following section provides more details on each project.  


Caelis International Development, Canada 
Caelis International is a specialised consultancy dealing with ICT in development, with a focus on education, e-commerce, trade development, eco-tourism, tele-health, government on-line, enabling communications policy and regulatory environments, and affordable and reliable networking alternatives to provide voice and data connectivity for developing countries. Our principal clients are the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Caelis has an associate roster of over 300 highly qualified experts, institutions, organizations and firms golbally. For the ADB SASEC Higway Research and Training Network (RTN) project, Magnus has assigned its HR as national ICT Specialist and Deputy Team Leader since 2011 to implement the project by 2014 in SASEC region.  

 Practical Action 

Practical Action works alongside communities to find practical solutions to the poverty they face. We see technology as a vital contributor to people’s livelihoods. Our definition of technology includes physical infrastructure, machinery and equipment, knowledge and skills and the capacity to organise and use all of these. The organization actively seeks to work with communities and adopt a collaborative approach, sharing knowledge and experience. We increase our impact by scaling up success and pushing for policy change that directly benefits poor communities. Magnus Consulting Group provided consultancy services for Market for Poor People (MPP) project to study dairy value chain and ICT intervention strategies for the same in 3 districts in Nepal.  


Nepal Institute of Development Studies (NIDS)
NIDS (Nepal Institute of Development Studies), a non governmental research organization established in 1998, has been focusing on prioritized issues which are associated to development of the country. NIDS contributes to the development process by conducting research, implementing effective programs to create environment through initiation, facilitation and coordination of activities and networking/lobbying and advocating on equitable development strategies. Magnus Consulting Group has been providing consultancy services through individual engagement with NIDS since 2012 in migration, remittance and socio-economic impacts related high-level studies and consultation. The consultation also entails national and policy level innovative ideas and frameworks in the aforementioned themes.  

 International Telecommunication Union (ITU)

In early 2012, ITU excercized a four-nation Wireless Broadband Master Plan development workshops. With different aspects of the selected countries (Samoan Island, Myanmar, Vietnam and Nepal) ITU experts held national workshop in each respective country. Magnus provided specialized consultancy service to ITU and Government of Nepal for the Nepal activity. 


Small Farmers Development Bank (SFDB)

Scaled after Small Farmers Development Project in 1975, Small Farmers Development Bank which operates under Agriculture Development Bank Nepal is a Micro finance Bank that provides wholesale loans to Small Farmers Cooperatives (SFCs) in the country. Magnus has custom designed and developed the financial MIS for the bank in 2011. The bank has 8 area offices in the country and now with the FinNet Pro, the head office can manage all financial transactions and reporting more efficiently and transparently.  


RMDCRural Microfinance Development Centre (RMDC)

RMDC is one of the two Micro finance Bank in Nepal. Magnus provided the customized Financial MIS solution to RMDC through which it now can manage funds, loans, training, payroll and reporting efficiently and transparently. 


Citizens Bank Citizens Bank International

Magnus provided end-to-end consulting services to Citizens Bank International for selection of their Financial MIS System, including preparing of RFP, selection of bids, verification of functionality and final recommendations as per the bank's needs. 


Supreme Court Supreme Court of Nepal

Under the USAID funded project, Magnus did a System Assessment of Computer System in the Judiciary. This included reviewing the master plan, proposing changes and studying current infrastructure and software systems and provides recommendations to fully computerize the judiciary.  


Small Farmers Co-operativesSmall Farmers Co-operative Ltd.s (SFCLs)

As one of the main strategic partnes of the company Magnus developed a MIS, Saral Bitta (Simple Finance), for the use in Small Farmers Cooperatives (SFCs). The localized system handles all of the financial processes that are required at SFCs including reporting. Now, 170 SFCs all over Nepal are currently using the software.  


Nepal Telecommunication AuthorityNepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA)

Magnus provided specialized consulting services for Nepal's Broadband Policy, Categorization power usage for public and private use of low power devices and development of Type Approval methodology.

 


USAID

United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

Under USAID ICT-GDA program, Magnus provided consulting services for setting up rural telecenters and training telecenter operators/managers at Syaphru Bensi in Rasuwa district and Phaplu and Sallery in Solukhumbu district. Multiple 3-day trainings were conducted at Lalitpur for rests of the rural telecetner operators and managers. Scope of the project also included wireless survey, setting up Wi-Fi devices and test, developing training manual. 


UNESCAP/ADBUNESCAP/ADB

Magnus provided consulting services to United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) to establish six pilot Community e-Centers in Nepal. In parallel, such centers were also established in all South Asian Sub-regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) nations (Bangladesh, Bhutan and India). Project scope included conducting needs assessment workshops and feasibility study, development and prototyping of business model, website and training manual development, representing Nepal in SASEC CeC regional workshops and providing training. The company executed project action items through strategic partnership with Project Implementation Unit (PIU) at Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC). MoIC was the executive government agency for the project.
